What is a PTA?
The Brookside PTA (Parent, Teacher Association) supports our teachers, families and school through community-building events, classes, services and more. Our organization is part of the National PTA, Washington State PTA and the Shoreline PTA Council.

Keeping Families In The Know
We keep families informed of what’s going on at school through our monthly newsletter, Brookside and Beyond. This publication keeps families informed on PTA and Brookside events and lets families know what’s happening at school. Weekly Brookside PTA emails our sent out to interested families. Our PTA also sends home periodic flyers through kid mail/Boomerang that provides event specific information to all families.

Getting Families Involved
We offer volunteers the opportunity to take active roles in supporting our school. With a wide variety of programs and positions, there’s something for everyone.

Programs for Learning and Playing
The Brookside PTA organizes events such as the Back to School BBQ, the annual Sock Hop, Family Fitness Night, Movie Nights, and skating and swim parties as well as offering enrichment activities such as art, foreign language, Chess Club, Drama Club, Math Olympiad and more. We also coordinate services like the Holiday Food Drive, health and vision screenings, Cut-n-Chat, Reading Tutors, and the Math Center.

Keeping an Eye on Olympia-
We monitor state and federal legislation pertaining to schools and children, and report back to Brookside families on current issues, and how they can affect change in our communities. The PTA is the largest child advocacy organization in the country.

Our 2010 – 2011 PTA membership campaign will begin in late August. We have had 100% membership in our PTA for the last five years and appreciate your help in continuing our strong tradition of parent support.

Money for Your School
By raising money through a variety of fundraisers, the Brookside PTA is able to provide much needed support to our students, families, and teachers. These dollars help us invest in PTA programs, classroom activities, curriculum and other services that enrich our school and community. Please visit our fundraising page for more information.
