2010-2011 Fundraising
What an amazing year we had at Brookside Elementary in 2009-2010! Our school and community were busy supporting our students, teachers and staff through our fundraising and the efforts of many volunteers. The Brookside community recognizes the importance of supporting education and students, and we THANK ALL OF YOU for this!
Brookside's PTA membership reached 100% again this past year. That means there was a paid membership for each student here at Brookside. Our PTA worked hard to support as many activities as possible in our school. Did you know that PTA spends about $70.00 per student during the school year? The money we raised through Entertainment books, Pass the Hat, Smencil sales, the Read-a-thon and Pennies for Brookside goes directly back into PTA programs, classroom activities and curriculum.
This is what your PTA money paid for during the 2009-2010 school year:
- Classroom, music, library, PE funds
- Field trip support
- Art docent program
- Cultural enrichment assemblies
- Math Olympiad
- Staff Appreciation
- 6th grade year end field trip
- Awards and recognition (outstanding educator)
- Books for the classrooms and library, AR tests, special resource books, and more.
Grants we approved this year
- Teacher's workshop for continuing education
- Books for grade level literature study (2 separate grants)
- Video camera
- Winter coats for teen girls
- Electronic scales for the Nurse's office - for health screenings and medical needs
- Money into a lunch account to pay for meals for students who forget lunch or haven't yet been approved for free/reduced lunch
