Fundraising

Brookside community members, Starbucks, the City of Lake Forest Park, the State of Washington, and Brookside students celebrate the official opening of the new playground equipment on a beautiful fall afternoon.

Thank you from the Brookside PTA Fundraising team!

What an amazing year the 2006-2007 school year was at Brookside Elementary. Our school and community were busy supporting our students, teachers and staff through our fundraising efforts and all the volunteering people provide. The Brookside community recognizes the importance of supporting education and students, and we THANK ALL OF YOU for this!

Brookside's PTA membership reached 100% again this past year! That means there was a paid membership for each student here at Brookside. Our PTA worked hard to support as much as we could in our school. Did you know that PTA spends about $68.00 per student during the school year? The money we raised through Sally Foster gift wrap, Entertainment books, Cookie dough, plant sales and Pass-the-Hat goes directly back into PTA programs, classroom activities and curriculum. The Pass-the-Hat focus this school year will be on Technology Education & Afterschool Activities. It's through Fundraising and volunteer time that made great events like Science Career Night and Science Fair such a success.

As many of you can imagine, with the large deficit in the Shoreline School District budget for this year, our Fundraising efforts will be just that much more important. For example, our PTA paid for some spring field trips that the District had to cut. We can rise to the occasion of supporting our students next year through our monetary support as well as our volunteer efforts.

What PTA money supported during the 2006-2007 school year:
  • Updated sound system
  • Reading/literacy coach
  • Safety patrol field trip to Wild Waves
  • 4th grade orienteering classes
  • Classroom, music, library, PE funds
  • Field trip support
  • Kidlaw classes and field trip for 5th graders
  • Art docent program
  • Cultural enrichment assemblies
  • Math Olympiad
  • Updated Math Center materials and games
  • Staff Appreciation
  • Shoreline council scholarship
  • WASL writing prep
  • Shoreline clothing room donation
  • 6th grade year end field trip
  • Awards and recognition (outstanding educator)
  • Talent show
  • Printing/communications/website/supplies
  • Pass the Hat focus - Science (including Science career night, Science fair, Pacific Science classes at school)
PTA fundraisers for the 2007-2008 School Year:

As you look toward this school year please consider how all Brookside students benefit from PTA fundraising. We recognize there are a lot of different fundraisers. We don’t expect everyone to participate in every fundraiser. Pick and choose the ones that work best for your family. Whatever we make will be funneled back into programs and opportunities for our students.

Pass the Hat (On going throughout the year): Pass the Hat (On going throughout the year): This is an opportunity to give any amount of money you wish directly to the PTA. Donations are tax deductible and often will be matched by your employer (please check). This year’s Pass the Hat focus is Technology Education & Afterschool Activities.

PASS THE HAT FUNDRAISER UPDATE

Thank you again for all your support!

WaMoola for Schools® You Shop. Schools Win.™ With enrollment in the WaMoola for Schools® program, your Washington Mutual Visa® Check Card purchases benefit your favorite school. There's no cost to you to enroll, Washington Mutual makes the donation, and your favorite school gets cash — with no strings! It's a great way to make a difference.

Albertsons Community Partners Card (on going throughout the year): Each time you present your Albertsons Brookside Community Partners card when shopping at any Albertsons store a percentage of your expenditure will be sent to Brookside. Last year we received over $1,300 just for doing our grocery shopping! Our PTA number is 490001095530. Ask your Albertson store to link your card to our account.

Gift Wrap (October 9 - October 24th): The Sally Foster company returns 50% of the sales from these fundraisers to Brookside. Sally Foster offers great quality paper with a variety of products and year-round online ordering account (292136) at www.sallyfoster.com.

Entertainment Books (Available for purchase now!): 40% profit if we sell more than 100 books. Students and families are encouraged to sell one or more Entertainment Books. You can also purchase books for other states and cities by ordering online using our account (292136) at www.entertainment.com. This is a great gift idea for office personnel, family and friends.

Cookie Dough Sale (Spring …): This Spring there will be an opportunity to sell cookie dough and a few other tasty items. This has been a popular fundraiser.

Plant Sale (April/May): This is your chance to order high quality plants for your garden. We sell beautiful hanging baskets as well as flats of flowers and herbs. Last year we added mixed flats which was very well received. The kids also love the opportunity to buy a flower for mom for Mother’s Day.

Support from parents and friends is one of the reasons that Brookside is such a fantastic school for our children. We count on the generous donations of time, talent, and resources that the Brookside community has given every year to enrich the Brookside experience for each of our students. Thank you for your support. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead! If you have any questions or comments please contact us via the PTA.
